People often have objects that make them feel secure. Maybe it’s a photo of someone special kept by a bed or an especially soft blanket. Whatever the case may be, humans are known for having special objects. Dogs aren’t much different when it comes to favorite items. For one pit bull named Draco, his security object is a heart-shaped pillow with arms. Let’s take a look at what happened when it became ripped.
It should come as no surprise that Draco has a security object. He had a rough beginning in life, so his pillow probably serves as a source of comfort. Draco was rescued from a backyard breeder at the tender age of 2 weeks old. Being orphaned at such a young age can be a traumatic experience for a dog. That’s probably why the pillow is so special to him. It’s something he can count on being there for him.
Draco’s mom Allie O’Cain explained how Draco acts with his pillow.
“If anyone else picks up his pillow he will dart over and grab it. He sucks it every single day to fall asleep,”
she said.
The ironic thing is that Draco is not so careful with other toys. “Draco is a crazy chewer and we have become a ‘rubber toy only’ house because anything with stuffing he will destroy in less than five minutes. But he has been so gentle and loving with this pillow,” O’Cain said. The heart-shaped pillow is obviously very special to Draco.
Draco’s Special Pillow Ripped. But Grandma To The Rescue!
Draco’s buddy, a black Lab named Willow came for a visit. Willow tried to share Draco’s pillow, but Draco grabbed it away from Willow. In the process, the pillow ripped. Draco’s human grandma was there to witness the sad event. But she knew just what to do. O’Cain explained, “My mom freaked out and grabbed it and yelled, ‘I’ll fix it, Draco!” She also added that “We think [the pillow] was so worn out it just easily ripped.”
And how did Draco react to have his very special pillow back? Draco watched as grandma sewed it and then rushed to cuddle it when it was finished. Draco is fortunate to have such caring humans in his life. And from the sounds of it, they are just as fortunate to have such a sweet and caring dog.
