When parents of an only child welcome a new baby into the home, the only child can feel left out. Feelings of jealousy can emerge if that first child isn’t given enough attention. And even then the first child may resent that the parents had a new baby. Well, things aren’t much different for the canine species. Let’s take a look at an adorable dog named Kevin in a single dog family and how he reacts when a new brother is brought home. His reaction is priceless.
Kevin was having a wonderful life with his human parents, Carleigh Stroup, and her husband. He was not starved for attention at all. Kevin got lots of snuggle times whenever he wanted, which was often.
“Kevin is so sweet and loving,” Stroup said. “We can never lay down without him immediately laying down with one of us.” Kevin’s life is about as perfect as it can be, but that all changed when the Stroups brought home a new puppy.
When puppy Lyle entered the household he didn’t get exactly what you would call a heartwarming welcome from Kevin. In fact, Kevin’s reaction is something that you have to see to understand.

Lyle, on the other hand, seems unphased by how Kevin seems to feel about him. Stroup said that Lyle’s feelings are “the absolute opposite of Kevin.” “He only wants to go where Kevin goes,” Stroup added. “He’s just absolutely obsessed with him.”
Thankfully Kevin has warmed up to the idea of having a little brother. It didn’t take long for him to bond with Lyle. “Even after all of Lyle’s attempts at ruining Kevin’s peace and quiet, they’ve become inseparable,” Stroup said. “Kevin appreciates having a brother to hang out with when we are gone.”
As far as the affection that Kevin gets from his parents, from the looks of it he has nothing at all to worry about. He gained a brother, not lost any love from his humans.
