Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make a big difference. This was definitely the case for a senior Pug who started wearing socks. Let’s take a look at how socks have made all the difference for one sweet dog.
14-year-old Leia, the Pug was having a hard time walking across the new flooring that her human mom installed in their house. Leia had been used to walking on the carpet. The flooring was slippery to her, and she quickly lost confidence in trying to walk on it. That’s when her human mom put some socks on her elderly dog’s feet.
“She went from being fairly immobile and fearful to walk across the floor to trundling around with a lot of confidence just by putting on her socks,” owner Niki Geroni-Lajoie explained. And not only does Leia want her socks on but she does even more than that. “She helps put them on. She knows they help her,” Geroni-Lajoie said.
Before Leia wore the socks, she had her human mom concerned. “I was worried she was going to sprain something, being so old and wobbly already,” Geroni-Lajoie said.
Leia Clearly Wants Her Socks To Be On
Leia asks for the socks to be put on by her attitude. “She will stand on the living room rug and bark for me or cry, trying to get around if the socks aren’t on,” Geroni-Lajoie explained. “Then when the socks are on, she has a whole different attitude. “She runs around and you can tell she’s really happy and waggy.”
Leia was rescued from Under My Wing Pug Rescue Shelter. That is how Geroni-Lajoie adopted her and Leia’s brother a couple of years ago. Leia’s brother has since passed on, but Leia has other rescue dog friends. And most especially she has a human family that greatly cares about her well being. If it weren’t for the socks, Leia may have deteriorated as old age set in. Instead, the socks have given her a new outlook on life. Just take a look for yourself.
