We all know that it’s fun having cocktails at a wedding. But what’s even more fun? Kittens at a wedding!

Iz and Colleen Kimseylove admit they are “crazy head over heels cat people,” so in lieu of cocktails they featured six adorable kittens at their wedding, BuzzFeedNews reports.

Kittens Were A Hit At This Wedding

The couple, who live in Washington, have two older special needs kitties who weren’t able to attend. Nevertheless, they wanted to show their love for cats in a way that could help them. After all, they missed their kitties and, Colleen said, “wanted to bring a little of their spirit to the celebration.”

So they substituted adorable kittens for cocktails. We think this is a wonderful idea! And kitten hour was a hit with the guests.

“We wanted guests to have something to do during the family picture taking time, and were too broke to have a cocktail hour,” Colleen said.

All of the kittens came from the Seattle Animal Shelter. And Iz and Colleen also donated to the shelter before their wedding.

“When else are you going to be able to summon kittens for your pleasure, and make a donation to a great organization?” Colleen said.

To minimize stress for the tiny bundles of cuteness, the shelter provided six people-friendly kittens, TheAnimalRescueSite reports. And Iz and Colleen made sure the kittens were only there for a little while.

“The little dudes at our wedding were selected for being especially social, there were volunteers making sure they were handled safely and not overstimulated, and they left after about an hour,” the couple said.

But here’s the best news: All of the kittens found homes. Iz and Colleen were tempted to adopt as well, but they knew that would upset their kitties at home. And they say they would like to see people adopt adult cats as well. They are also lovable and need homes as well.

“I’d encourage anyone looking to adopt a cat to look into the grown-ups first for calmer, and just [an] adorable companionship,” they said.

I hope Iz and Colleen have a long and happy marriage. They are so wonderfully kind doing something like this for homeless kittens.
