For those who foster animals while they wait for a forever home, know it is hard to give them up. However, when you find there’s a void in your life, you end up taking a trip to the local animal shelter. That is the case for a young man named Drew. He was feeling lonely and thought a pup from his local shelter would help perk him up. However, the one he’d had his eye set on was currently being adopted. Then he turned around.
A “Foster” Dad in the Making
Behind him, a black pit bull was silently jumping up and down within his kennel. A beautiful dog named Dennis caught Drew’s attention. It was, however, when Dennis “spoke” that Drew knew he was hooked – line and sinker.
This unique dog didn’t bark like the other dogs in the shelter. His bark was described as a combination between a seal and a pig. Hooked at once, Drew was saddened to learn Dennis had already been claimed. Yet, Drew felt an immediate connection between them. He asked about being able to foster the dog until his forever family came to claim him.
During the two weeks, they were together; a bond was already strong.
It was time to let go
When it came time to give Dennis up, Drew was devastated.
“I couldn’t even function.”
Little did he know that over the two weeks he’d been making memories with Dennis, the adopting family had been watching the videos being posted. All the photos of them hanging out, the memories being made gave the family an idea. And at the end of the two weeks, Drew was given life-altering news.
He was no longer a foster dad, but the proud owner of Dennis, the chatter-box dog! From the excitement of the news, Dennis squeaked and squealed at Drew’s feet. What a way to end and begin a life-long friendship. What below how their story truly ended!
