Toddlers are known to love their toys and not want to give them up when someone takes their toys away. Well, young animals may not be so different from human youngsters. One panda named Xiao Liwu shows us all just how similar young humans and young pandas really are.

Xiao Liwu, a Panda Bear was given a ball during his exam to test his coordination. Caretakers were also encouraging him to play with new objects. The little Panda had already been introduced to bamboo and a tree limb but the ball was a whole new experience. Little did the caretakers know how much Xiao Liwu would love that ball. He seemed to be captured by the shape and how he could hug it and roll around with it.

Xiao Liwu was clearly enjoying this new toy. He appeared to like it so much that he didn’t want anyone else to have it back. This footage was all caught on video for us all to enjoy. It may just be one of the most adorable tantrums I’ve ever seen. How about you? Take a look for yourself.

About Pandas

Pandas are bears that are native to China. In China, they are considered a national treasure and for good reason. Sadly, there are not many Pandas left in the world.  Pandas are now endangered with only about 1,600 alive today in the wilds, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).  There are approximately 100 pandas that live in zoos around the world.

Pandas eat often and a lot, often grazing for about 12 hours straight. Their main diet is composed of bamboo. The giant panda’s scientific name is Ailuropoda Melanoleuca which means “black and white cat-foot.” Giant pandas weigh between 75kg and 135kg and can grow between 1.2m and 1.5m. We still aren’t sure how long Panda Bears live in the wild, but in captivity, they can live to be approximately 30 years of age.

Pandas are born blind and measure about 15 centimeters. They are also born pink without much fur. They first open their eyes after about 6 to 8 weeks after being born.

For the most part, pandas are solitary animals. Females and males will find each other and come together to mate and then go on their separate ways. Research has found that pandas also occasionally meet outside of the breeding season. They communicate with each other through vocalizations and scent marks.
